Polishing Wheels On Comandulli Omega 100

This test was done on a Comandulli Omega 100 using 5" bullnose polishing wheels. The machine was already using 5" polishing wheels. The previous (non-Tenax) wheels were run in the following sequence and settings:

  • Sequence:
    • 50
    • 100
    • 200
    • 400
    • 800
    • 1500
    • 3000
  • Pressure: 25-30 psi

The initial test was constructed using an adjusted sequence but using the same pressure. The initial results were as follows:

Settings

The following settings and sequence were used for the test:

  • Machine: Comandulli Omega 100
  • Sequence:
    • 120
    • 220
    • 320
    • 400
    • 800
    • 1200
    • 3000
  • Pressure: 25-30 psi

The results of running this set-up left some lines. Additionally, it took some time to open the wheels. The suggestion by the machine operator was to increase the pressure. The testing continued with the following settings:

  • Sequence:
    • 120 at 25 psi
    • 220 at 30 psi
    • 320 at 35 psi
    • 400 at 40 psi
    • 800 at 45 psi
    • 1200 at 45 psi
    • 3000 at 45 psi

This adjustment in the pressure for each step in the sequence improved the results of the polish. However more time running was needed to finish opening up the wheels before the peak results could be reached.

Initial Feedback

The feedback from the machine operator on the performance of the Tenax wheels was favorable. The wheels are continuing to be used and regular feedback is being communicated periodically.
